BEACH DAYS ARE THE BEST DAYS.
Just before we left town we stopped by Patagonia Torquay and swiped this board off the racks. 6’0, SHADOW shaped by Jarrah Lynch. Not much can be said except arigato Unx for creating an amazing surfboard.
A week later… monsoonal conditions prevailed until we saw or first glimpse of sunlight today. Seeking out protected bays, we were pointed in the right direction to find this little black sand gem.

After a year of dreaming, a few weeks of stressful packing, we are on the road for the next 2 months… 2 days of planes, trains, and automobiles lead us to a magical place in the Philippines. In transit we were luck enough to meet up with the crew from Coast Through Life, Buji and Nikki and the beautiful Sebastian sisters.
our boards made it all the way- with no extra charge- thank you singapore airlines for being so good to surfers!
Rest and recovery, lots of rain and a little splash on day 1 at my favorite left reef this side of the equator!

The Heart & The Sea
We spent the weekend on the Central Coast for the much anticipated film release of The Heart & The Sea. Just as the title suggests the film encompasses the heart of Nathan and his family and their realtionships with a few special surfers that have been formed by the sea. Showcasing beautiful surfing nathan has shot and edited this film with a passion that shows through each clip.
I was lucky enough to be a part of the film. 4 weeks after I had returned to surfing we met up with Nathan in Byron. Blue water and small peelers rolled down the point, we shot all the footage during a long morning session at the Pass. Rayson was 3 months old and enjoyed the time in the trees at Tomo’s rock nestled in the arms of Adam, and got to share and begin a very special loving friendship of his own with the Oldfield and Rae families.
Nathan’s past films have always been a ‘guiding light’ and inspiration to my own personal creativity. Sometimes I find it difficult to articulate my own connection with the sea. I think Nathan captures all that is beautiful, pure, true and peaceful… his films emulate the essence of why we hold a passion that runs so deep and expresses an infinity for the sea. Thank you Nathan and the Oldfield family for showing the world why we love the deep blue.

Things to do on rainy days….. When the wind swings onshore and the cold rain begins to fall from the heavens, its always fun to bunker down and play some soccer, lego, eat pop’s yummy cheesy treats, and hang out at Patagonia Torquay!
That first surf on a new board is a ‘make or break’ bump in the road. It can determine a life long friendship- almost love affair, if you will, between the rider and surf-craft. Shaped by Jordan Nobel, glassed by Sasha Leitmanis, this is a ‘Sugar Mountain’ 9’3” single fin noserider. Christened in the waters of Victoria on a chilly friday morning in November.
